Providing many of the same characteristics as straight timothy it also has added sweetness with the alfalfa that makes horses want to eat it better. The protein also is several points higher and the fiber about the same. Timothy and alfalfa grow well together and the mix of alfalfa is generally in the 20 to 40% range. The hay is light green with a nice sweet smell. Just like timothy this hay is produced on many small farms around the northeast and sourced the same way. The Bales weigh around 65lb and can be easily handled around any stable operation.
